Biography

Henrique Ferreira (1997), who goes by the name Henrik Ferrara, is a multidisciplinary musician and artist who explores the infinitely vast realms of sound. His work integrates improvisation and experimentation, reflecting a quest for innovation in his timbral palettes and methods of manipulating sound objects. In addition to seeking to incorporate noise production with greater visual expressiveness, he also explores the energetic relationships between sound and the audience, as well as between bodies interacting with space, engaging with the mediums of video, performance, and dance. He develops new expressive interfaces, such as “Crescente,” an electroacoustic feedback instrument. He frequently collaborates with Francisca Dores, composing for her films, such as “Linhas de Bordadura” (2025), “Cura” (2023), and “How to be a Candid Woman” (2022). He directed Coro Normal with Simão Collares, creating a space for vocal and sound experimentation, and founded the Obsoleto collective, whose notable works include “fábric,” “Plasticidade,” and “Trabalhar Rápido é Trabalhar Pior.” He is currently creating and performing in the “Pleasure Drone” project, in collaboration with Gil Mac and funded by the GDA Foundation, where he explores the sounds of dance music, expanding his sonic universe into the clubbing and rave scenes. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication Technologies (ESMAD) and a master’s degree in Multimedia—Interactive Music and Sound Design (FEUP). He is currently a doctoral candidate in the DocMus programme in ESMAE.
