Investment C05-i13 – Scientific Research Units

This funding supports the acquisition of equipment and the completion of renovation and/or modernization projects for the research infrastructure of the Centre for Music Studies (CESEM), Research UnitUID/00693/2025. The project was approved by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under Call for Applications No. 01/C05-i13/2025.

The funding aims to promote the upgrading and restructuring of scientific research units, including their digital transformation. It supports the acquisition of major scientific equipment, scientific instrument collections, scientific archives and datasets, other knowledge-based resources, computing and programming systems, communication networks that foster open digital access, and other instrumental infrastructures designed to enhanceexcellence in research and innovation activities.

Objectives and Expected Results

1. Strengthen the institutional foundations of the Portuguese scientific and technological system through support to Research and Development (R&D) Units;
2. Support the provision of shared resources for research activities and initiatives that create, reinforce, or enhance the conditions necessary for R&D Units to achieve their strategic objectives;
3. Complement existing funding obtained by R&D Units for general activities and internationalisation efforts, ensuring institutional conditions that maximise the use of available resources, particularly in support of careerdevelopment and stabilisation strategies;
4. Contribute to the further exploitation and valorisation of results arising from successfully completed research activities and projects.
